To make it easier we've included a short explanation of each chat site so you can choose the one that is right for you.  Just click on the name of the site to have it open up in a new window and then.......happy chatting!

Cybersight Real-Time Chat Session

www.cybersight.com

This chat site is excellent for beginners.  Type in you name or alias...insert a message...press submit and VOILA!   Instant chat.  View new messages by pressing the RELOAD button or simply by submitting a new message.  You will find this site TOO simple when you get more advanced at chatting, but for starting out it is the best on the net...

The Globe

www.theglobe.com

There are pros and cons to chatting at this site.  HEAPS of people chat in the various different rooms The Globe has to offer and they are generally a friendly bunch.  There are lots of chat rooms to choose from, the chat room listing tells you how many people are in each room and there are added bonuses to the site such as discussion forums, free email, personal ads and an advice column. However, there is a lengthy sign-in form to register and most of the good user names are already taken as The Globe has millions of users.  But if you are looking for a more sophisticated chat site, this might be great for you!

The Park

www.the-park.com

You have to log in to use this site, but the process is simple and easy to find.  The rooms however can have a cluttered look so this site may not be suited to beginners.  Similar format to The Globe chat.  The Park boasts thousands of daily visitors and you are sure to find someone you'll be happy to chat with...

Talk City

www.talkcity.com

This site is similar to The Park and The Globe.  It requires you to first become a member and you must sign in before chat - but there are a selection of different chat rooms grouped into categories like people, business, computing, entertainment and teen. Talk City also provides free homepages to members, has a personals section and regularly sets up THEME chat nights - although you'll have to work out the relevent time difference as all chats are in American Eastern Standard Time.....

WBS Chat

www.wbs.net

This site is definitely NOT for beginners - but it is worth the time and effort to learn the ins and outs of the chat system WBS uses.  There are hundreds of chat rooms on this site, although many are regularly unused or have very low user levels.  You have the ability to check the number of people and  who's in each room before you join.....and you can even use a picture of yourself (or a picture of anything at all!) to identify your chat messages!   Messages are submited by pressing the 'enter' key and will scroll up the screen....no reloading necessary!  It will take beginners time to work out how to upload your pictures, to change your chat preferences and which chat rooms are best (The Flirt Room is always good!) but the other chatters will be happy to help you if you have any questions.  This site requires a sign-up form to be filled out and many of the best user names are already taken....so BE CREATIVE!
Oh.....and you can have free email or a free homepage if you are a member.....

Yahoo! Chat

chat.yahoo.com

This chat site uses java applet to scroll chat up the screen as you type it in.  The user interface is a little complicated but will be appreciated by experienced users due to its versatility.  You can change the size, colour and tense of your messages by choosing different buttons and even mark yourself as 'away' or 'busy' if necessary.  There are many different chat rooms, you must sign in upon entry...but as this is a popular chat site you have a good chance of meeting some very interesting people.
