The Pregnancy, Birth & Early Life of Dexter...

Chronicle of my first pregnancy, and the expected homebirth into water of my baby. This blog was started at 18 weeks of pregnancy (I was too lazy and tired to start before now!) and includes some flashbacks to the earlier days of the pregnancy... UPDATE 13/03/08: I have decided to continue this blog through the early months of Dex's life, and possibly beyond...

This nesting instinct is completely inconvenient!

I'm a pretty organised person at the best of times but I have to be honest - this nesting instinct is really killing me! Aren't I supposed to be resting at 35 weeks pregnant instead of cleaning out every cupboard in the WHOLE HOUSE?!?!? Yikes!

I worked on house cleaning/organising yesterday all day with Dave, even sugar-soaped the walls of the baby's room - now today I'm doing even more, plus cleaning the whole house. There is a big pile of things that are to go to charity as a donatin, and an even larger pile of rubbish. We completely cleared the baby's room ready for painting so our living area now has a huge pile of STUFF that I have NO IDEA how to fit back into the room in a respectable manner!!! It's very stressful!

Tomorrow a plumber comes to put in some new fixtures (including a detachable-head shower in our ensuite which I am assured is DIVINE for labour) - and then I have appointments with both my doula and my midwife...

Wednesday I plan to put a whole lot of listings up on Ebay of items that were too good to give to charity, hoping to make a few hundred dollars over the next few weeks. Then Andrew *my brother* is coming for dinner that night...

Thursday is 'baby room painting day' - Mum & Dad are coming over to help. That should be fun.

But no - we can't then set it all up ready - I have to continue on with Ebay work, and organising the house on Friday - might try to get out to the shops and get some things I need.

Then on Saturday morning I am getting the carpets all cleaned --- so after THAT we'll be able to actually set up the nursery! OH and keep in mind, my baby shower is Saturday afternoon - so I imagine that Saturday evening will see the return of everything into the baby's room, and then Sunday Dave and I can take our time organising it all and setting it up. Early next week I want to wash all the baby stuff ready for his arrival, and also go out shopping for all the bits and pieces I still need, seeing as I was holding off till the baby shower before finalising all my purchases.

Sooooooo ya think maternity leave is a walk in the park??? NUP! Not even close! I'm doing all this AND still doing my regular Ebay business and trying to start up a new online project that I believe will generate a decent income while I'm on leave from work.

So there you have it - that's my plan for the rest of the week. In between there I need to try and relax & rest - last night I only got about 3 or 4 hours sleep for some reason, too hyped up still from the hard-working day I guess - and maybe I had too much on my mind too. Ah well... might have to take a nap this afternoon :)

That's it from me - back to work - lots more to do today!
